Throughout the legal process, one of the overriding themes was the issue of “consent”. My assailant’s defense relied tremendously on the notion that the assault had simply been a “miscommunication.” Even the judge at my plea hearing, interrupted the assailant, at one point, to interject that this was “NOT a case of miscommunication.” Overall, consent seems to be an issue that could use a little clarity.
